He is a former New York police detective and also became known as a media personality who contributed on the Fox news network in addition to the Don Imus show. Currently he is serving for the New York security guard advisory Council as one of the chairman in he was appointed this position in 1995 by Gov. George Pataki.

NYPD Career
In March of 1985 Bo Dietl hurt his ankle in an accident he had skydiving. Rather than taking a job at a desk for the NYPD he decided to retire and that is when he moved on to create Beau Dietl & Associates. This company specializes in investigations on corporate levels as well as other major companies that are international. Some of his clients have included Coca-Cola, Lehman Brothers, Grey Advertising and Colombia Pictures among many others. Bo Dietl became nominated in 1986 by the Republican as well as Conservative parties of the state of New York for the 6th District.

Film Influences
Bo Dietl created an autobiography in 1998 which was called One Tough Cop: The Bo Dietl Story and this eventually made it to the big screen which starred Stephen Baldwin who played the role of Bo Dietl. There was a plot in Abel Ferrara’s drama called Bad Lieutenant and this was mainly inspired by the Dietl investigation that was of a rape that happened in 1981 and was of a nun and the investigation ends there. Harvey Kietl played a protagonist in this film and Dietl was never an addict to cocaine or any other alcoholic issues in his law enforcement career. Dietl played an investigative detective in the beginning of the film. In the 1990 film Goodfellas he additionally played the role of the detective who arrested Henry Hill.

There was an interview that was conducted with Dietl in the documentary Fabled Enemies which is written by Jason Bermas of Loose Chang. Bo Dietl talks about his FBI relationship with John O’Neil who was the expert on Osama Bin Laden until he decided to resign in August of 2001. He did this to become a lead head security officer at the World Trade Center which is also where he was killed during the September 11 attacks.

Television and Radio
Dietl happens to be a rather frequent guest on the Imus in the Morning show which airs on WABC radio as well as Fox Business Network. You can see Bo Dietl frequently on the Fox News Channel as well on shows such as Geraldo at Large and The O’Reiley Factor. He has also made appearances on The Daily Show and even played a guest role on Law and Order.
